Mindful Yoga classes at …
The Sanctuary for Yoga
43 S. Main Street, Medford, NJ
Thursday mornings, 10:30 – 11:45 a.m.
Mindful yoga forms the basis of this class. Emphasis is placed on experiencing the internal landscape while moving gently towards the edge of sensation. Classes blend Viniyoga and Hanna Somatics to unlock areas of deeply held stress and constriction. A period of meditation and deep relaxation is always offered.
Suitable for beginners or experienced practitioners, movement is slow-paced; students are reminded to maintain self-compassion and non-judgment. In the spirit of trauma-sensitive yoga, there are no hand-on adjustments. Instead, students are given verbal instruction on how to enter into an asana, and then how to make subtle shifts to deepen the experience. Despite the gentle nature of the class, most participants see an improvement in strength, balance and flexibility. The atmosphere in this class is welcoming and friendly.
This class provides an opportunity to reconnect with the body and balance the nervous system. If you are new to yoga and are uncertain about whether mindful movement might be right for you, please feel free to be in touch.
